Pati
Woodard is a dedicated artist, in fact on her taxes she has actually
listed herself as an artist. Years ago she was a mother, a teacher,
a wife and housekeeper... but, today she is an artist. She taught junior
high art in South Bend Indiana eons ago and has a real love for teaching
kids to make things of which they can say," I made that!"
The biggie in her life is teaching and showing others how... She will
be teaching kids classes and adult classes at the Tomé Gallery
during the summers and throughout the the year. Currently, she teaches
art in her grandkids' classes at St Mary's School in Belen. Can you
believe that they are cutting art and music out of the curriculum in
schools? What is this world coming to? Besides the kids missing out
of fun ... how are they expressing their creativity?
Pati really doesn't focus on one medium. Oh, no... she has to have her
fingers in everything and dabble with metal, casting resin, carving,
making jewelry from found objects, including bottle caps (of all things),
binding, sewing, journaling, drawing, wire wrapping, a bit of painting,
embossing... just to name a few things. The minute she figgers out how
to do something, she has a huge urge to teach and show others how to
do it. 'Spread the Creativity.'
Pati
attends several national art workshops a year, always on the quest to
learn new skills and techniques and to hone the ones she has. Pati's
main goals are: to create and to have fun and to share her wealth of
knowledge and creativity and to have fun and to create.
