I
became interested in pottery about one year into retirement and started
taking lessons at the Arkansas Art Center in Little Rock, a very fine pottery
school. I studied there for over a year until we moved to New Mexico and
there I continued my training with Jan Pacifico at the Tomé Gallery and
then at Coyote Clay in Albuquerque. In the Spring of 2005, I invested in
my own equipment and now work with my husband, the jeweler Vern Deas, in
our home studio in Los Lunas, New Mexico.

My primary focus has gravitated to horsehair
pottery and I love all aspects of making the pieces, from throwing
to glazing to the final horsehair firing. Each piece is unique and
has its own beauty and character. |
